Read more Click here to view all publications Recent AwardsThe Board of Trustees of the Russell Sage Foundation recently made the following awards: Under its Immigration program, $355, 552 was awarded to Douglas Massey (Princeton University), Marta Tienda (Princeton University), Michael Jones-Correa (Cornell University), Gordon Hanson (University of California at San Diego) and Katherine Fennelly (University of Minnesota) for a pilot project to develop the most comprehensive study to date on immigrants in non-traditional destinations across the nation. Read more Under its Social Inequality program, $291, 292 was granted to Barbara Wolfe (University of Wisconsin), William N. Evans (University of Notre Dame) and Teresa Seeman (University of California, Los Angeles) who will bring researchers in the social and biological sciences together for a landmark exploration of the pathways linking socioeconomic status and health. Read more Under its Cultural Contact program, $186, 270 was awarded to Susan Fiske (Princeton University) for a novel series of laboratory and neuro-imaging studies that will address the psychological and neural bases of prejudice towards minority groups. During their time at RSF, the scholars are pursuing cutting-edge research and writing projects that address some of the most critical social problems and questions facing the nation today. Some topics under investigation by this year’s class of visiting scholars include: the causes and consequences of false convictions in the American judicial system, links between race, health, and socioeconomic status, the experiences of Mexican immigrants in New York City, the role of emotion in decision-making, felon disenfranchisement laws, and cross-national trends in socioeconomic mobility.
