In 2017, Hurricane Maria resulted in the departure of over 160,000 Puerto Rican climate migrants to southern states, particularly Florida. Sociologist Elizabeth Aranda will conduct a follow-up study on a project conducted in 2020 on the emotional adaptation and incorporation of Puerto Rican climate migrants in Florida. She will conduct in-depth interviews for her study.
