Place-, Home-Making, and Incorporation after Post-Disaster Migration: Puerto Rican Climate Migrants to the U.S. and Return Migrants to Puerto Rico
This grant is funded in part by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
In 2017, Hurricane Maria resulted in the departure of over 160,000 Puerto Rican climate migrants to southern states, particularly Florida. Sociologist Elizabeth Aranda will conduct a follow-up study on a project conducted in 2020 on the emotional adaptation and incorporation of Puerto Rican climate migrants in Florida. She will conduct in-depth interviews for her study.
