Remnants of Illegality: The Transformative Effects of U.S. Immigration Law Post Status Regularization
Awarded External Scholars
Project Date:
Summary
Immigration studies have shown that immigrants’ attitudes, behaviors, and self-identities are affected by immigration law and its enforcement. Yet, little is known about how immigrants’ behaviors and worldviews change after moving from undocumented to legal status. Doctoral student in sociology Jozef Robles will explore how former undocumented or liminal legal status continue to shape an individual’s behavior once they’ve obtained legal status. He will conduct interviews for his study.
