Russell Sage Foundation staff will host two virtual events at the American Sociological Association conference, which will be held from August 8-11, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference is now a virtual event.
On Saturday, August 8 at 1:30 EDT, Senior Program Officer Leana Charath and Program Director James Wilson will lead a session about seeking grants from private foundations. This session will feature a panel discussion along with program staff from the William T. Grant Foundation and the Spencer Foundation. It will include a presentation of the three foundations’ funding priorities and application and review processes, followed by a question and answer period. A recording of this session will be available at a later date on the foundation's website.
On Sunday, August 9 at 5:30 pm EDT, RSF's Director of Publications Suzanne Nichols will co-host a session on publishing with a university press with a colleague at New York University Press. Sponsored by The Association of University Presses, this workshop will help participants learn about the basics of book publishing, including writing a compelling proposal, finding a press, and the peer review process. Participants are invited to ask questions after the presentation.
The foundation is also hosting a virtual booth at ASA. Conference attendees can save up to 20% on RSF books.
