RSF Trustee Alondra Nelson Named Deputy Director in White House Office of Science & Technology Policy

RSF trustee Alondra Nelson has been appointed by President Biden as deputy director for science and society. In this capacity, she will help lead the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Nelson is currently the president of the Social Science Research Council and the Harold F. Linder Professor of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Her work brings together several research traditions: political sociology; racial and ethnic studies; the sociology of science, knowledge and technology; medical sociology; and social and cultural theory. She writes and comments extensively on societal impacts of emerging technology, as well as racism in science and medicine.
