The American Academy of Political and Social Science (AAPSS) has named seven social scientists who will be inducted into the Academy as fellows in 2022. The new fellows include William “Sandy” Darity Jr. (Duke University) a former RSF visiting scholar, contributor to multiple RSF Journal issues, including “Plessy v. Ferguson and the Legacy of ‘Separate but Equal’ After 125 Years,” contributing author to multiple RSF books including Prosperity for All?, and an RSF research grant recipient; Earl Lewis (University of Michigan) an RSF research grant recipient; Paul Pierson (University of California, Berkeley) a contributing author to RSF book Remaking America, member of RSF’s The Political Influence of Economic Elites Working Group, and an RSF research grant recipient; Jennifer Richeson (Yale University) an RSF trustee, contributor to RSF Journal issue “Immigration and Changing Identities,” member of RSF’s Immigration and Cultural Contact Working Group, and an RSF research grant recipient; and Theda Skocpol (Harvard University) co-editor of RSF books Reaching for a New Deal and Inequality and American Democracy, contributing author to multiple RSF books, and an RSF research grant recipient.
Each year, AAPSS invites a small group of scholars and public servants to join the Academy as fellows. Each fellowship is awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to the advancement of the social sciences and is named after a distinguished scholar or civic leader who has contributed to the AAPSS Annals. Darity will be the W.E.B Du Bois Fellow, Lewis will be the Walter Lippmann Fellow, Pierson will be Robert A. Dahl Fellow, Richeson will be the Gordon Allport Fellow, and Skocpol will be the Frances Perkins Fellow.
