          Summary
Among the myriad societal impacts of climate change, hurricanes have been shown to have significant effects on the housing market. Doctoral student in economics Katharine Harwood will examine the impact of Hurricane Sandy on rents among New Yorkers who receive housing choice vouchers. She will analyze data from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s housing choice voucher program, FEMA Surge and Flood Maps, and rental data from the website Street Easy for her study.
