RSF Authors Pamela Herd and Donald Moynihan to Host Conference on Administrative Burdens

On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the Better Government Lab at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University will host a one-day conference entitled, Counting the Time Tax: New Ways to Measure Administrative Burden. The Better Government Lab is co-directed by Pamela Herd (Georgetown University) and Donald Moynihan (Georgetown University), authors of RSF book Administrative Burden: Policymaking by Other Means and co-editors of RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences issue “Administrative Burdens and Inequality in Policy Implementation.” The conference will highlight approaches to better capture, calculate, and target administrative burdens in to order to improve access, equity, and customer experience.

Annie Lowrey, author of the forthcoming book, The Time Tax, will headline the event. Sessions will also include speakers from the U.S. Federal government, findings from state benefits delivery projects, researchers employing new methodological approaches to capturing burden, and work from governments around the world.
