RSF-Affiliated Scholars Named 2025 Citation Laureates in Economics

Five RSF-affiliated scholars have recently been named Citation Laureates in Economics. Citation Laureates are selected annually by the Institute for Scientific Information and are “researchers whose work reflects extraordinary influence and global impact.” Economists chosen to be Citation Laureates have conducted research that “has shaped policy, deepened insights into human behavior, and influenced global economics systems.” The economists selected to join the Hall of Citation Laureates in 2025 are David Autor (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Marianne Bertrand (University of Chicago), Nicholas Bloom (Stanford University), Lawrence F. Katz (Harvard University), and Sendhil Mullainathan (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Autor and Katz were selected “for seminal analysis of wage structure, earnings inequality, educational advance, and technological change.” Bertrand and Mullainathan were selected “for joint research on racial discrimination, corporate governance, and other aspects of labor economics determined by psychology and culture.” Bloom was selected “for analyzing the impact of economic and political uncertainty on investment, employment, and growth.”

David Autor is a contributor to RSF volumes Working and Poor and Low-Wage America and recipient of multiple RSF research grants.

Marianne Bertrand is an RSF trustee and recipient of multiple RSF research grants.

Nicholas Bloom is a recipient of multiple RSF research grants.

Lawrence F. Katz is a former RSF trustee, former RSF visiting scholar, contributor to RSF volumes Gender & Family Issues in the Workplace and Generating Jobs, contributor to RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences issues “Administrative Burdens and Inequality in Policy Implementation” and “Improving Employment and Earnings in Twenty-First Century Labor Markets,” and RSF research grant recipient.

Sendhil Mullainathan is a contributor to RSF volume Insufficient Funds and recipient of multiple RSF research grants.
