Campaign Finance in American Cities
Donations to political campaigns play an important component in who becomes an elected official, and campaign contributions provide fertile ground for corruption. However, attention to campaign finances focuses overwhelmingly on political campaigns at the national level. Doctoral student in political science Chenoa Yorgason will investigate inequality in campaign finance participation in American cities. She will create a new dataset of local campaign finance contributions and city election results for her study.
