Student–Guidance Counselor Ethnoracial Match and Postsecondary Outcomes

Awarded Scholars:
Tolani Britton, University of California Berkeley
Project Date:
Mar 2020
Award Amount:
$29,959

Most public secondary school students receive some help with the college application process from guidance counselors, and previous studies have demonstrated the importance of college advising to postsecondary access and success. Britton will measure the association between having a same race or ethnicity guidance counselor and the likelihood of college enrollment, persistence, and completion for students in a large urban school district.
