When the Policed Become Police: Reentry and Non-Profit Security in California

By and large, sustainable, long-term employment opportunities for formerly incarcerated people are rare. However, new agencies are emerging that hire formerly incarcerated people because of their record. Doctoral student in sociology Xavier Durham will explore the experiences of formerly incarcerated employees of the quasi-policing organization Urban Alchemy. He will conduct interviews and participant observation for his study.
