Summary
The human and financial costs of mass incarceration in addition to a changing political landscape has created opportunities to ease punitive criminal justice policies. Sociologist Heather Schoenfeld and criminologist Michael Campbell will investigate what factors influence states’ adoption of decarcerative policies. They will analyze three matched-pair case studies for their project.
