Summary

Algorithmic management (AM) systems in hotel housekeeping are reshaping hospitality work, but research on the extent of their adoption, use, and impact on the job quality of guest room attendants (GRAs) (i.e., housekeepers) is limited. Labor economists Christine Riordan and Hye Jin Rho, computer scientists Jodi L. Forlizzi and Sarah Fox, and hospitality industry scholar Betsy B. Stringam will examine the role of technology in shaping GRA job quality and wellbeing. They will conduct interviews and a national survey for their study.
