Archival Storage of Russell Sage Records

Project Date:
Award Amount:
$103,890
Summary

In 1986, RSF transferred its entire historical archives, dating back to 1907, to the Rockefeller Archive Center at Rockefeller University in Pocantico Hills, New York, and the Foundation has transferred additional materials since then at regular intervals. Initially established to house the records of the Rockefeller family, the RAC now includes historical material from a number of private foundations and non-profits. This grant will pay for the storage, on microfilm, of the Foundation’s historical records from 1999 to 2006, including minutes from meetings of the Board of Trustees, external project files, visiting scholar files, presidential correspondence, scholar reviews of programs and grant proposals, and Finance Committee minutes, among other things. Sensitive portions of the archives, such as confidential reviews of grant proposals, will remain sealed for 25 years. All other materials will be immediately available to qualified researchers.
