Implications of Remote Work for the Geography of Work, the Gender Pay Gap, and Income Inequality

The share of job postings that offer remote work has increased dramatically since the COVID-19 pandemic. While case studies have explored the impact of remote work on productivity, there is little experimental evidence on how employers perceive candidates seeking remote work relative to those seeking onsite work. Economist Simon Quach will examine how signaling a preference for remote work impacts the number of interview invitations job seekers receive. He will conduct a randomized resume experiment on three online platforms for his study.
