While research has shown that early-career jobs are related to long-term economic outcomes, it has not isolated the role of occupational experience from other factors such as pay and benefit differences among employers. Economists Jesse Bruhn, Matthew Gudgeon, Adam Isen, Aaron Phillips, and Luke Gallagher will examine how early-career jobs shape long-term economic outcomes young adults without a four-year college degree. They will analyze administrative data from the U.S. Army for their study.
