The Impact of Workplace Efficacy on Political Engagement
Awarded External Scholars
Project Date:
Summary
Workers in the United States tend to have little voice in workplace governance, particularly in low-wage segments of the labor market. Research has suggested that an employee’s lack of confidence in their own ability to affect their working conditions may limit their political efficacy and engagement. Doctoral student in political science Jack Garigliano will examine the relationship between a person’s confidence in their ability to improve their working conditions and their political efficacy and engagement. He will conduct a survey and analyze data from the American Trends Panel, the National Longitudinal Surveys, and the National Election Survey for his study.
