New York City has long had a reputation as a welcoming destination for immigrants. However, the recent influx in asylum applicants, called a “migrant crisis” by the mayor, has put the city’s pro-immigrant attitudes to the test. Sociologists Philip Kasinitz and Liza G. Steele will examine attitudes towards the recent influx of migrants in New York City. They will conduct a survey and in-depth interviews for their study.
