Summary
Correctional facilities commonly provide individuals with vocational training to increase their labor market prospects upon release to the community. Despite the popularity of vocational training, there is insufficient evidence to determine whether these programs successfully help formerly incarcerated individuals obtain employment. Doctoral student in criminology Britte van Tiem will explore whether vocational training allows formerly incarcerated people to obtain employment in their field of training. She will analyze data from the Delaware Department of Corrections, the Delaware Department of Labor, and the Delaware Department of Education for her study.
