Dara Strolovitch
Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, American Studies, and Political Science
Princeton University
at time of fellowship
2017 to 2018
Strolovitch will complete a book about how widening socioeconomic inequality and catastrophic events such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the Great Recession affect political representation for marginalized groups. Using information from nearly two decades of original interviews and surveys of organizations that represent groups such as women, LGBT people, racial minorities, and low-income people, she will explore how crises and growing disparities have affected organizations’ policy agendas, their political influence, and whether they have prompted changes in representation for multiply-disadvantaged constituencies.
