Gregory Acs

Acs will analyze how community-level factors influencing economic well-being, autonomy, and belonging affect income growth at the bottom quintile in those communities. Acs will draw on county-level data from the American Community Survey and the Urban Institute’s Upward Mobility Dashboard to examine the relationship between community characteristics in 2014 and changes in the level of income at the 20th percentile between 2014 and 2023. He will explore whether the relationships vary across racial and ethnic groups and whether they are influenced by the level of racial segregation in the community.
