RSF Trustee Mario Small Named Inaugural SSRC Katznelson Fellow

The Social Science Research Council recently named RSF trustee Mario Small (Columbia University) as the inaugural SSRC Katznelson Fellow, named after former SSRC president Ira Katznelson, himself a former RSF trustee and current Margaret Olivia Sage Scholar. The fellowship recognizes distinguished scholars whose research, pedagogy, and writing exemplify innovation and boundary crossing in the social sciences.
Mario Small is Quetelet Professor of Social Science in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University. He has published award-winning articles and books on urban inequality, personal networks, and the relationship between qualitative and quantitative research methods. He is a contributor to RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences issue “Anti-poverty Policy Initiatives for the United States” and RSF volume The Colors of Poverty: Why Racial and Ethnic Disparities Persist.
