Summary
The racial and economic barriers to accessing rental housing have been well-documented. While credit scores are a routine component of rental background checks, little is known about the extent to which a household’s credit status impacts an individual’s ability to access different types of rental housing. Doctoral student in urban planning Alexander Ramiller will explore how factors such as race, class, and changes in local housing supply shape housing accessibility for households with low credit scores. He will analyze credit panel data, Census data, and property data for his study.
