Experiencing Institutions: Democratic Values, the Political Process, and Political Trust

There is a growing, worldwide emergence of “critical citizens” who value democracy, equality, and transparency in government. Despite their civic engagement, many of these critical citizens express distrust in politicians and government. Doctoral student in sociology Sadie Dempsey will investigate why politically engaged citizens hold low levels of trust in the government. She will conduct participant observation and interviews for her study.
