Twelve RSF-affiliated scholars were recently named among the most influential Black economists of the last 30 years by Academic Influence. The list features the most highly searched and cited Black economists. Among the economists featured are Cecilia Conrad, William A. Darity Jr., Roland G. Fryer Jr., Caroline Hoxby, Damon Jones, Trevon Logan, Linda Datcher Loury, Samuel Myers Jr., William Rodgers, Cecilia Rouse, William Spriggs, and William Julius Wilson.
Cecilia Conrad (MacArthur Foundation) is a contributing author to the RSF books Prosperity for All? and Fathers Under Fire. William A. Darity Jr. (Duke University) was a visiting scholar during the 2015-2016 academic year. He is a contributor to multiple RSF Journal issues, including “Plessy v. Ferguson and the Legacy of ‘Separate but Equal’ After 125 Years.” He is also a contributing author to multiple RSF books including Prosperity for All? and An American Dilemma Revisited. Roland G. Fryer Jr. (Harvard University) is a contributing author to the RSF book Whither Opportunity? Caroline Hoxby (Stanford University) is a contributing author to the RSF book Help or Hindrance? Damon Jones (University of Chicago) is an RSF research grant recipient. Trevon Logan (The Ohio State University) will be an RSF visiting scholar during the 2022-2023 academic year. He was an RSF-Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Pipeline Grant Competition mentor. He is also an RSF research grant recipient. Linda Datcher Loury (Tufts University) was a contributing author to the RSF book Help or Hindrance? Samuel Myers Jr. (University of Minnesota) is a 2021-2022 visiting scholar. He is a co-editor of RSF Journal issues “Plessy v. Ferguson and the Legacy of ‘Separate but Equal’ After 125 Years” and “The Fiftieth Anniversary of the Kerner Commissions Report.” He is a contributing author to the RSF books Prosperity for All? and The Decline in Marriage Among African Americans. William Rodgers (Rutgers University, New Brunswick) is a contributing author to the RSF Journal issue “Improving Employment and Earnings in Twenty-First Century Labor Markets.” He is a co-editor of the RSF book Prosperity for All? Cecilia Rouse (Council of Economic Advisors) was a visiting scholar during the 1994-1995 academic year and is a co-editor of the RSF book The Price of Independence. William Spriggs (Howard University) is a contributing author to the RSF book Prosperity for All? William Julius Wilson (Harvard University) served on the RSF board of trustees from 1988 to 1998 and served as chair of the board from 1993 to 1996. He was a Margaret Olivia Sage scholar in spring 2017. He is a co-editor of the RSF book Poverty, Inequality, and the Future of Social Policy as well as a contributing author to the RSF book Black Fathers in Contemporary American Society.
