About This Book

This booklet reprints an article from the American Physical Education Review, February 1908. It is a report of an address given before the Second Annual Convention of the Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States, in New York City, on December 28, 1907. It argues that athletics are important for the values that they instill in those who play sports.

LUTHER H. GULICK was director of the Department of Child Hygiene at the Russell Sage Foundation.
