Disparities in Exposure Risk to Environmental Disadvantage in Neighborhood Networks Formed by Urban Mobility Flows
Prior research suggests that neighborhood conditions and the conditions of geographically adjacent neighborhoods influence individual well-being. However, less is known about how the conditions of the metropolitan areas cities are situated in impacts resident well-being. Demographer Noli Brazil will examine whether the effects of neighborhood exposure to violent crime and extreme are mitigated by the broader conditions of the metropolitan area as well as residents’ daily mobility throughout the metropolitan area. He will analyze data from American Community Survey, the Federal Transit Administration’s National Transit Database, as well as anonymized cell phone data for his study.
